Make a Starter Brand Kit

A brand kit is a simple place to store the pieces of your brand. It helps you stay consistent when you create your website, social posts, emails, packaging, or business materials.
Your first brand kit does not need to be perfect. It can be simple and grow over time.
Start with the basics: your name, short bio, colors, fonts, logo files if you have them, and a few words that describe your brand.
Create a brand kit folder
Make one place for your brand files.
Create a folder in Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Notion, Canva, or your computer. Name it something clear like “Brand Kit.”
Add your business name
Save the exact way your name should appear.
Include capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and any notes about how the name should be written.
Add your bio
Save your short and long business bio.
Include the versions you use for your website, social profiles, and email signature.
Add your colors
Save your brand colors and hex codes.
Include your main color, support colors, and neutral colors. Add notes about where each color should be used if helpful.
Add your fonts
Save your font names and links.
Include your heading font and body font. If you use Canva or another tool, note where the fonts are available.
Add your logo files
Save your logo files if you have them.
Include different versions if available, like full logo, icon, black, white, transparent, or social profile version.
Add sample images
Save photos or visuals that fit your brand.
These could be product photos, mood board images, textures, patterns, icons, or example graphics.
Add your brand voice notes
Save how your business should sound.
Include tone words, words to use, words to avoid, and sample captions or messages.
“My starter brand kit includes my business name, short bio, colors, fonts, logo, and voice notes. I can use it whenever I make something new.”
