Write Your Bio

article header

Your bio is one of the first things people read when they find your business. It may show up on your website, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, email signature, marketplace profile, or press kit.

A good bio does not have to sound fancy. It just needs to help someone quickly understand what your business is, who it is for, and why they should care.

Start with a short version. You can always make it more polished later.
Write what your business does

Start with the clearest version.

Write one simple sentence that explains what your business offers. Do not worry about sounding perfect yet. Example: “I make handmade body care products for people with sensitive skin.”
Write who you help

Name the type of person your business is for.

Think about your customer. Are they new founders, busy parents, brides, homeowners, creatives, students, or local shoppers? Use words they would understand.
Write why it matters

Explain the benefit of your business.

Ask yourself what changes for someone after they buy from you. Do they feel more confident, organized, calm, prepared, stylish, supported, or excited?
Add a personal detail

Include one small detail that makes the bio feel human.

This could be why you started, what you care about, where you are based, or what makes your approach special. Keep it short.
Write a short bio

Create a version you can use on social media.

Keep this version to 1–2 sentences. It should be easy to read quickly.
Write a longer bio

Create a version for your website or about page.

Add a little more detail about your business, your customer, and your purpose. Keep the language simple.
Save both versions

Keep your bios somewhere easy to find.

Save your short bio and long bio in your business folder so you can copy and reuse them later.

Example text:

“[Busines Name] helps new small business owners create simple brand words and website copy, so they can explain what they do with more confidence.”
